CARING FOR YOU COSMETIC BROWS
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW BROWS!
Now, taking care of your tattoo at this early stage can be the difference between a beautiful, long lasting cosmetic tattoo. Post-treatment care determines your treatment success, so please read and follow instructions carefully, otherwise, you can lose up to 80% of the pigment.
Inserted pigment is darker during the first 7 days due to scabbing and oxidising, this WILL lose 30-40% of its intensity. If you think the pigment is too dark, do not try to fade it yourself. Be patient, wait for 7 days until it fades away naturally. Healing is complete around 28 days. What you see after this time is a true representation of how they should stay. Please remember cosmetic tattoo is a TWO-STEP process. A perfection visit is scheduled at 6-8 weeks after your first visit, and is essential for a complete treatment. Any loss of pigment, patchiness or missing strokes is normal but should be very minimal. If this occurs, we will correct at the Perfection Visit.
Things like genetics, the environment, the intensity of your pigment, the type of procedure you’ve chosen and your commitment to aftercare will all affect the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo. Most of this is out of your control, but one thing which is most definitely within your sphere of influence is the aftercare you’re committed to providing.
Most eyebrow tattoos will have healed topically (though not completely) by the time two weeks ceases. During these two weeks, you should take care to avoid excessing sweating, sunshine, swimming pools, salt water, direct shower spray, make up and facial products other than the recommended after care ointment.
You should organise a maintenance appointment for 6 - 8 weeks after your initial treatment. This is a great opportunity to evaluate the colour and shape now that things have settled down. We will go over your brows, re-applying more pigment and address any issues of patchiness or uneven shape that may occur.
Although all these permanent makeup aftercare instructions may seem a little daunting at first, most of it is simple. Your practitioner is always at the end of the phone for support, whether it’s been a month or a year since you had your treatment.
There’s no guarantee how long semi permanent brows will last due to many factors, but with a little care and consideration, you’ll ensure you achieve a great long lashing result.

AFTER CARE FOR COSMETIC TATTOO BROWS
This information has been compiled to guide you through the next 4 weeks post procedure and prepare you with what to expect during this healing process to ease any unnecessary worry or concerns.
Please do not hesitate to contact at any time with any questions or concerns. To ensure that you have the most positive results from your brow procedure and aid your skin in proper healing it is important that you follow this aftercare carefully.
Day 1 – Day of Treatment
For the first 24 hours, it is not uncommon to feel a tightness to the brow area, this can be accommodated by minimal swelling, redness and tingling.
Do not apply any ointment for the first 6 hours post procedure! This is known as the “Golden Period” of wound healing and the skin must breathe and close on its own without any foreign oils on it.
Using boiled or sterile water, gently wipe over the brow area with a damp not wet cotton pad. Repeat every 3 hours until you go to bed.
Day 2-3
Using boiled or sterile warm water, gently wipe over the brow area with a damp not wet cotton pad. Repeat this twice per day, once in the morning, once at night. Apply a very thin coat of ointment to the area with a cotton tip once the area is dry.
You can expect the area to be bold in colour, with a dramatic appearance, clear discharge, and slight bleeding is possible. A crust is forming for full healing and your brows may look uneven due to inflammation. Do not worry, this is normal. Trust the healing process, it will lighten and heal.
Day 4
Continue to gently apply a very thin coat of ointment to the area with a cotton tip 2-3 times per day. Repeat this until days 10 – 14.
Your brows will appear dark due to oxidation and scabbing. The area will start to itch and flake. They may appear to be thicker in texture and possibly look uneven. You may notice the pigment will appear raised. The crust has formed; flaky skin will start to peel from the outside edges first. This is normal; do not panic and do not pick at it. Just use your ointment to minimize the look. Picking will result in patchy brows once healed. Please let them fall off naturally.
Day 5-6
The skin is rapidly exfoliating, the pigment under the exfoliating skill will appear light until the epidermis takes on its more transparent characteristics. Do not panic, they are still changing throughout the healing process.
Day 7
Most of the colour has finished flaking off. You will notice a soft greyish effect for several days until the skin cells exfoliate and clarify the colour as it starts to mature. This maturing takes a full 21 to 28 days with the skins natural cycle. You will start noticing a much softer, more natural look.
Day 8-14
The brows will appear light and will start warming up as the skin continues to heal. The greyish appearance is going, the skin looks smooth and the colour is very soft.
Day 15-30
Pigment looks brighter and clearer. The tissue is healthy and healing is mostly complete. Time to call and book a follow-up appointment! This is recommended 6-8 weeks post initial treatment. This is complimentary and where we correct any imperfections.
Day 30-60
The pigment has now become part of the dermis, seen under the epidermis. Now is the time to critique your brows. Make note of any alterations you would like to make, so when you return to your maintenance appointment shortly, you have a clear vision in mind as this will be your final perfecting visit.
